How to make? #diy
Are you on a tight budget and can't buy a new model? Because know that this doesn't have to stop you from walking around with an amazing shell bag. Just make one at home. Of course, the quality is not the same, but it can certainly be used a few times without carrying too much weight. To make a holographic zipper piece, you will need:
- EVA in the color of your choice;
- Cellophane paper in the color of your choice;
- 15 cm zipper in the same color as the EVA;
- shell mold;
- Needle and thread;
- Pencil;
- stylet;
- Scissors;
- EVA tail;
- Pearl chain;
- Hot glue;
- Cardboard.
Step by step: Cutouts
Start by cutting out a piece of cardboard in the shape of a circle that is smaller than the size of the shell design. With the help of a stylus, open the cardboard sheet in half and remove the corrugated part. Use these cardboard circles as a template for the EVA. Cut out two identical circles and glue them, each on a sheet of cardboard. Also cut a strip of cardboard the length of the circumference of the circles. Then use this strip as a template to cut out two more pieces of EVA. However, this time, you need to cut approximately 2 cm more for each side. As with the circles, open the cardboard strip and remove the embossing in the middle. Then join the strip to the EVA.
Also cut two small rounded strips, in the shape of a comma, and glue them to the circles, leaving a piece outside (as shown in the assembly below). Now, use the shell mold to cut the EVA into the same shape.
Step by step: Assembly
Finally, it was time to assemble the bag. With the hot glue, start joining all the parts, including the zipper. Then pass the EVA glue on the lines of the shell and join it to the EVA.
Cut the cellophane a little bigger than the template and make some small cuts to make finishing easier. With the hot glue, fold the scraps of paper inwards and glue them together. Then, take two small strips of EVA, fold them in half and glue them together, so that they are firmer. Then make a drop shape with both and glue the ends. Attach each one to one side of the bag. Then run the current through these 'drops'. Finally, join the shell designs to the rest of the piece and your shell bag is ready.
