Tips and Care
Care is similar to piercing the surface of the tongue. You should avoid foods that are difficult to chew, giving preference to more liquid foods and nothing hot.
Alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, chewing gum and more acidic and spicy foods should be avoided right after the piercing.
Also avoid consuming dairy products (such as milk and cheese) as bacteria and the clotting process can also impair healing!
You can gargle (3 to 6 times a day) with salt water or mouthwashes (no alcohol)!
Bucal cleaning should be done all the time, but carefully! Choose a toothbrush with very soft bristles.
In the first few days it's normal to be swollen, more sensitive and even mild bleeding occurs. You must avoid touching the jewelry, as it can contaminate with bacteria and worsen healing.
Also avoid putting your head down.
To alleviate these symptoms you can apply ice, but you must not suck on it. Place ice shavings over the piercing and let it melt.
You should not remove the jewelry while it heals. After that period you can change it.
The healing period should take 4 to 8 weeks (1 to 2 months). During this time, you may find it awkward to talk and eat with the piercing, but you will gradually get used to it.
