As stiletto nails became a trend among women since the end of 2014 and continue to firm and strong in fashion today!
Here we show you ALL about this nail style, from care and maintenance, to super practical images and tutorials!
What is it?
A stiletto it's that pointed 'V' shape, which became popular after some celebrities, such as Rihanna and Adele, joined the style.
As you can see, this nail shape is much more pointed than the others and suits women with a strong personality!
This nail format is very suitable for those who have weaker nails, as it is harder to break than the others. We usually break nails at the edges and, as the stiletto only has one end, it is difficult for it to break if well cared for.
Care
Although they are beautiful and easy to do, the stiletto nails ask for some care. We quote some of them here:
- be careful when put on the clothes so you don't end up scratching yourself (be extra careful with jeans and, especially, tights, which are very easy to tear!)
- If you use contact lenses, always pick them up with your finger and not your nail, they can break easily (besides the risk of hurting your eyes);
- Have take care of your skin when passing creams, moisturizers, sunscreen and even scratching yourself;
- file your nails once a week, little by little, so that they do not end up becoming asymmetrical;
- Don't make them extremely pointy, make them slightly rounded, as they end up getting weaker at the ends and are at risk of breaking;
- If the tip breaks, a tip is to cut all your nails on the ballerina format (see image of nail shapes) until they grow back! Or you can just sand it back down to the stiletto shape and make it a little smaller than the others if you're not the perfectionist type.
These are just some of the care you'll need to take, until you get used to them. Don't sit there thinking you're going to get all scratched up with these nails, then you'll get used to it and you'll love this shape!

How to do stiletto nails step by step
Hey, are you already dying to do your stiletto nails after seeing so much cool inspiration? Don't worry, we'll help you right now!
Nail in gel
If you have short or very weak nails and don't want to wait for them to grow, you can opt for gel nails. They are priced a little high, around 200 reais to put e 100 for maintenance (every 20 days). The process takes a few hours and you will feel a slight burning sensation as the gel sets, but nothing unbearable.
Now you must be thinking “Is it really worth it?”. Yes, the investment is really high, but you don't have to get your nails done every week and you can have the shape and size you want!
false nails
If you've never used this format before and want to see if it suits you before you go to the trouble of caring for and letting them grow, you can opt for the fake stiletto nails. They are much cheaper than the gel ones (about 20 reais for a pack of 100 pieces) and you can make them at home! See the step-by-step tutorial in the video below (with a really cool decoration option!):
real nails
Now, if you're not a big fan of artificial nails, you can leave your real ones in this format too and it's not difficult at all!
Basically, you just need to sand it in the corners until it's in a 'V' shape.
take care to leave them very symmetrical and with tip right in the middle of the nail. You can start sanding it like this even if it's not long, just repeat the process every week! Easy, right?
In the video below, you'll learn how to do all kinds of decorations in the image above, as well as how to leave square nails in the stiletto shape!
