AFRO PUFF It is a hairstyle that has long been used by women with curly hair. Practical, versatile and charming, it was already very common for mothers to make these buns on their daughters' heads. the name of the hairstyle Afro Puff comes from the combination of "afro" with "puffβ€œ, English word meaning β€œbulge” or something β€œfluffy” or bulky. β€œAfro Puffs” is even the name of a song by the singer and rapper The Lady of Rage launched in 1994. Just look at its importance!

Why use the Afro Puff?

  • The hairstyle is super democratic! It looks good on people of all ages and styles and can even be done on short, medium and long hair! But the β€œpuff” effect (voluminous, rounded) is easier to achieve if you have medium or short hair. And if you don't have that much hair or it's not very curly, you can opt for an extension to enhance your bun.

How to Make Afro Puff Step by Step

You will need:

  • hair elastic or sock or shoelace or something to hold the hair (cannot be too small)
  • hairpins
  • brush/comb
  • fork comb (optional)
  • gel (optional)
  • detangling cream (optional)
  • accessories, such as sash, tiara, turban (optional)

Hairstyle step by step:

  1. First let the hair untangle and unglue the root of the head, running your fingers. If you want, use a comb-fork to give more volume to the strands.
  2. Spray some water on the root and brush it to make it taut. You can also use the gel on the root if you prefer, in this step.
  3. Pass the elastic trapping all the hair. Keep squeezing firmly, leaving it as you like, so that the hair sticks out.
  4. Use some bobby pins to better fix and secure the strands that are loose.
  5. Make sure the elastic is well hidden.
  6. If you like it, add your favorite accessory to decorate it.
  7. Is ready!
